Travel, emigration and new chapters
Some suitcases open again in the same bedroom after two weeks; others are unpacked in a new home. A song about travelling or moving can show the differences between adventure, farewell, return and trying to land somewhere.
The meaning of a packed suitcase
A route map lies on the table or moving boxes stand against the wall. Both point forward, but with very different questions: what are we going to see, or how are we going to live here? Begin at that real situation and choose the people, places and objects that belong to it.
What is going to happen or has happened, and when? Tell us who comes along, what stays behind and which place is important; does the song revolve around memories on the way or around getting used to change?
